The Quote
A scrupulous writer, in every sentence that he writes, will ask himself at least four questions, thus: 1. What am I trying to say? 2. What words will express it? 3. What image or idiom will make it clearer? 4. Is this image fresh enough to have an effect?

George Orwell (1903 - 1950)

Crazed writer in DC!

Hello, everyone! I'm Bohemienne, a 26-year old girl living and working in Washington, DC, and I'm currently editing my third NaNovel to death. I won in 2003, 2007, and 2009; I'd love to revisit the first two novels some day, but right now I feel this most recent one ist the most promising in terms of publication. I've got a wonderful critique partner who's in a similar situation, and we try to keep each other on task.

I don't want to be the sort of writer who languishes for years over the same story. I have a TO WRITE list a mile long, and frankly, one a year (or more) per book is way too much! Time to get into gear!

My critique partner just drew up a really nice calendar for us to follow in order to finish rewrites and critiques in time for NaNo 2010. Feel free to pester me excessively to keep me focused, and I'll try to do the same!

My current WiP is UNDER A DEAD MOON, a dark fantasy tale of forbidden magic, political strife, and zombies. (Okay. Technically, they're "undead.")

Slower than I'd like, but faster than I'd expected. ;) It's amazing how much the arbitrary calendar my critique buddy threw together is goading me on. Like NaNoWriMo, I'm constantly looking for opportunities to beat the deadlines, skip ahead, pull it off. Deadlines I set for myself? Nearly always not met. But deadlines set by other people? Quickly become a game.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome!

It's funny how that works, isn't it? I'm the same way. Good luck keeping up with your calendar!

Hey Bohemienne!
Good luck with the calender!
I should get one of those, made by someone else instead of me.
You're right deadlines set by others are much easier to follow. I hope you accomplish your goals!
